Chapter II — the whisper

It begins as a rumour carried down the valley.

Above three thousand metres, the rhododendron opens red and keeps a secret in its nectar.

Apis laboriosa — the largest bee on earth — drinks it and builds combs on vertical stone.

The villagers do not call it honey. They call it the one that speaks.
